The EFT Healing Centre Blog

February 16, 2011

Last week in my blog post, I was considering what it meant to be the “best”, and how we knew when we’d accomplished it. I suggested that rather than it being about receiving acknowledgement, perhaps it was more to do with being completely connected to who we are, and what we are doing in that moment.

My client had been supervising a group of students and consistently drew a blank, having very little to contribute to the discussion. Deep down, he knew the information well but perhaps because there was a level of expectation upon him, no thoughts would come.

He’d previously told me that he was driven to be the best in all situations, yet he was fully aware that the “best”, whatever that was, was unattainable. All this left him filled with dread and anxiety.

I asked him when he believed he had been at this best in the past. His face lit up and it was easy for him to recollect – it was a time in his life when he was doing what he wanted to do; a time when he had something to say that he was passionate about; a time when he “felt alive”.

The passion he felt for what he was doing was far greater than any fear he had about what he was doing.

Did he receive applause and praise for what he was doing? Yes! And did that feel great? Yes! But what he remembers more than any of that external stimulus was how much he loved life at that time, and how invigorated he was.

To me, that is someone living at their best, thriving, and positively affecting the lives of others around them.

The next time you hear your self-criticism playing, take a moment to recall when you last felt really passionate about what you were doing – when you felt alive – and notice the change in your physiology as you remember what that was like. It will completely shift your vibration.

Then you can begin to recreate that wonderful experience of being at your best all over again in the present time.

As many of you know, last year I held the first EFT Gathering in Canada, and we had speakers from Canada and America. It was a fabulous success – a wonderful opportunity for EFT’ers to meet, network, share successes, and create a much needed community here.

One of the presentations was given by my good friends Alina Frank and Craig Weiner from Washington State.

Alina wanted to forge a similar community in Seattle, and she will be!

On Saturday February 26th, the first Washington EFT Tappers Gathering is taking place in Seattle, and I’ll be one of the speakers!

Here’s what Alina says:

“This all day event will feature the top Emotional Freedom Techniques practitioners from the state sharing their wisdom and expert knowledge in their various specialities. Learn new techniques, share your own healing stories, and help us forge a real community here in Washington.”

There will be presentations on EFT for relationships, children, setting bourndaries and illness, EFT and effective self-talk, and EFT and the Energy Sweep.

And best of all, you don’t have to live in Washington State to attend!

Please see the details for the event here

I’m looking forward to seeing you there!

warm wishes,

EFT video for you

For me, the week after Christmas is a very exciting time, as I start to consider the changes the New Year will bring; what I’ll do differently, and which visions will become reality.  However, in the past, that week could be a difficult and overwhelming time. It was usually the time when I felt pressurized to make sure I had the whole of the following year planned out.

I’ve always found change challenging, and it seemed to me that I’d only just got comfortable with the current year, and I was expected to embrace an unknown New Year!

If any of this sounds familiar to you, click on the link below, and tap along with me as we use EFT to step into the New Year with confidence:

Gratitude is a powerful antidote to that which we perceive to be wrong in our lives.  I experienced it first hand.

When I was very seriously ill, there were days when I was focused on all the symptoms I had, what I couldn’t do and how dreadful my life was. Yet as soon as I remembered a supportive comment from a friend, thought about how a specific symptom had reduced, or took time to enjoy the view of the garden from my bed, I realized there was much to feel grateful for in my life. In essence, what I was doing was changing my vibration: the more I noticed the blessingss in my life, the more abundant my life became. No matter how insignificant something seemed (like watching a bird take a bath in the garden) I decided to enjoy and appreciate it. I believe the Universe heard my changing vibration and acted upon it.

We can use EFT to change our vibration, too. With EFT, it’s possible to identify the vibration blocking our progress, neutralize and clear the way for appreciation and gratitude. What could be more uplifting than focusing on what’s right with our lives!

EFT Statements

If you are new to EFT, please click here to view the tapping points.

With your dominant hand, tap the karate chop point on the other hand while saying the following:

Even though I’m focusing on what’s going wrong with my life right now, I accept who I am and how I’m feeling

Even though I’m frustrated and disappointed because things are always going wrong, perhaps I could notice some of the good things in my life and raise my vibration

Even though it’s really difficult to be grateful at the moment, I choose to accept myself and appreciate many aspects of my life

Now tap the following places while saying each of the phrases below.

Top of the head: I keep focusing on what’s going wrong
Eyebrow: I feel frustrated and disappointed
Side of the eye: I don’t want to be positive about this
Under the eye: but I don’t want to focus on the negative all the time, either
Under the nose: I don’t have the right vibration
Chin: and that makes me more anxious
Under the arm: and it’s really hard to change

Top of the head: I want to change my vibration
Eyebrow: perhaps I could!
Side of the eye: maybe I am ready to notice some good things in my life
Under the eye: I choose to appreciate what is right with my life
Under the nose: I am open to acknowledging all the abundance in my life
Chin: I am loving this shift in my vibration!
Collarbone: I am grateful for the blessings in my life
Under the arm: I appreciate so much more about my life now

Now close your eyes and take a deep but comfortable breath. You might need to repeat this process or feel free to change the wording so it applies to how you really feel.

July 20, 2010

When I was interviewed for the Inner Healing Compass teleseminar series, I talked about how setting healthy boundaries can prevent long term physical pain and illness. I’ve considered this a lot lately, because it seems that most of the work I do with clients is based around feeling safe enough to set boundaries and avoid compromise.

My client felt compromised and the result was that her allergies flared up

I did an emergency EFT session with a client a few weeks ago. Her allergies had flared up and she’d experienced a migraine. She had guests staying in the house and she was highly sensitive to their clothes due to the laundry detergent they used, amongst other things.

After asking her a few questions, it became obvious that she felt extremely compromised and pressurized because of the guests in her house. She felt she had to be an attentive hostess, fun and energetic, and confessed she didn’t enjoy people staying in their house. In fact, she didn’t want people in the house at all.

She was exhausted and frustrated. No wonder her body was expressing its discontent in the form of allergic reactions.

Set boundaries before your body has to set them for you

For the sake of our health, it’s important to learn how to set boundaries; otherwise, if we continue to compromise what we want and need, it comes down to our body to do it for us – usually in the form of chronic pain, or potentially serious symptoms.

Through using EFT with my client, she was able to tap away the frustrations she felt, and the anxiety about future guests staying with them later in the summer. She decided – easily – that she would ask the next people coming to see them to stay in a local hotel. She felt relieved, and empowered. It felt right to create boundaries which supported her.

Tap away your anxieties, or resistance, about looking after yourself

If you like the idea of this, but you’re thinking, “Well, I could never do that. What would they think of me? It’s easier to compromise”, you may find the following tapping transcript helpful.

If you are unfamiliar with the EFT tapping points, please refer to the diagram here.

Tap the karate chop point on the other hand while saying the following:

Even though I’m afraid I’ll offend them, what if I don’t?

Even though they may not like it, I deserve to consider what I need

Even though I feel uncomfortable setting boundaries and honouring myself, I’m willing to do my best anyway

Now tap the following places while saying each of the phrases below:

Top of head: I want to set some boundaries
Eyebrow: but it all feels so different and uncomfortable
Side of eye: this could change everything
Under eye: and I’m not sure I want to risk that
Under nose: what if I upset her?
Chin: what if I don’t?
Collarbone: what if it fulfills her needs, too
Under arm: because then she’ll know what to expect?
Liver: I’m open to the possibility that this could work for both of us
Wrists: and our relationship will be even easier, more respectful, and more enjoyable as a result.

After you have tapped through this round, write down how you’re feeling and any new thoughts which have come up, then tap again, changing the wording if you need to. Remember, the phrases you use are simply a way of outwardly expressing how you’re feeling. You don’t need to be creative – just state what’s on your mind and tap through the points.
