I'll never be able to manage everything in my life without overwhelm!

I led a teleclass recently in which a topic came up that seemed to resonate with every one of the participants. The class was so valuable that I wanted to share the information with all of you, as well.

My volunteer was struggling with the feeling that no matter how hard she tried, she'd never be able to manage everything in her life with ease. Keep the home as immaculately as her mother; find time for exercise, eating well, and so on; run a business; be actively engaged with her children and spouse, etc. She felt that she could manage one or two of these really well, but after that, things started to deteriorate. And not living up to all of her standards in all of these areas caused her a lot of anxiety and even friction within her family, which, not surprisingly, provoked a downward spiral of further anxiety.

Through applying EFT we were able to eliminate the anxiety, enabling her to recognise just how much she did accomplish each day. Plus, through reframing as we tapped, she realised that not only did her mother stay at home all day (allowing her to spend all her time up keeping the home if she chose to), but perhaps her mother was anxious and overwhelmed at times also.

This can be a complex issue with a network of roots, so for permanent relief, you'll need to further explore the various origins of your beliefs and behaviour.

Still, I've noticed that most people struggling with this issue have the following factor in common: the pain of comparing themselves with someone else...someone who seems to be able to easily accomplish everything which they are straining to accomplish themselves. So this tapping transcript is a great way to get started working on issues regarding not being good enough, not accomplishing enough, etc.

With your dominant hand, tap the karate chop point on the other hand while saying the following:

Even though no matter how hard I try, I'll never be able to manage everything in my life with ease, I want to accept all of me anyway
Even though s/he did/does it so much better than me, I deserve to accept who I am and how I'm feeling about this
Even though when I look at what s/he is accomplishing, I know I'm not good enough, what if s/he is impressed by how much I accomplish and I just don't realise it?

Now tap the following places while saying each of the phrases below:

Top of head: I feel anxious
Eyebrow: and overwhelmed
Side of eye: everything is a struggle
Under eye: I just can't do it all easily
Under nose: not in the way that they do, anyway
Chin: how do they manage?
Collarbone: I realise I'm not good enough
Under arm: I just can't accomplish it all
Top of head: and that makes me feel even more overwhelmed
Eyebrow: and I don't want to continue feeling this way
Side of eye: I deserve to feel differently about this
Under eye: I'm open to the possibility I'm doing my best
Under nose: what if they feel the same way as me and inside they feel overwhelmed?
Chin: I refuse to compare myself to others
Collarbone: I have decided to acknowledge everything I have accomplished today instead
Under arm: and to find it surprisingly easy to do so!

Disclaimer: In tapping along to this transcript, you take full responsibility for your health and well being.
